Transformative power of Humility

A military convention was going on for the army men.  One of the instructor asked one soldier how he became a humble person because he had seen him before as a proud and arrogant person.  He told, in his regiment one of his colleague was so humble and honest that they used to make fun of him.

One day he returned to the hostel after a tough and long schedule of work. Even on that day before going to bed that humble colleague knelt down and prayed for more than one hour. I was irritated and hit him on his head with my boots. Still he continued his prayer. The next day morning I woke up and found my shoes nicely polished and kept near my bed. This is how he gave back for what I gave him the previous night. My heart was broken and on that very day I changed myself.

This is a powerful story that highlights the transformative power of kindness and forgiveness. The soldier's realization that his humble colleague responded to his act of violence with an act of kindness had a profound impact on him. It made him reflect on his own behavior and inspired him to change for the better.

The message conveyed in the story aligns with the idea of treating others with kindness and not responding to evil with evil. It encourages people to choose goodness and compassion in their interactions with others, regardless of how they may have been treated.

By following the principle of doing good, even in the face of adversity, the soldier learned a valuable lesson about humility and the importance of treating others with respect and kindness. It's a reminder that our actions can have a profound impact on others and that choosing kindness and forgiveness can lead to personal growth and positive change.

The story also implies the idea of empathy and understanding. The soldier, after experiencing the same treatment he had inflicted on his colleague, gained a new perspective and developed empathy towards him. This empathy, coupled with the colleague's act of kindness, ultimately led to a change in the soldier's behavior.

Overall, the story encourages people to break the cycle of negativity and strive for goodness, understanding, and forgiveness in their interactions with others. It serves as a reminder that by treating others with kindness, we can create a positive and compassionate environment.

See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men. So let us all do good for bad and inherit God’s blessings.
