Fighting for Righteousness

 


While I was travelling in a train, there was a lady vendor selling coriander leaves. She was taking them in bulk from one town to another for selling them in a market. Since she did not get time to wash the leaves before she packed, she thought of doing it in the train. She took it to the toilet and was washing it there placing them on the wash basin and using whatever space she had. Many passengers saw it but one of them started shouting at her.

 

 “Is this the way you clean these leaves which we are going to use even uncooked for our food? How dare you wash these leaves inside the toilet and toilet water?

 

This person, I am sure is not going to buy or use that particular leaves because he got down before the lady. But he was fighting for the cause of the society. Even though everybody knew what she did was wrong, others were not bothered much about it.

 

We see many such incidents in the society. We identify these people because they have a different spirit in them. Because they raise questions and condemn the wrongdoings in a society, they will have to undergo many persecutions. Even the beneficiaries of the cause they stand for, may not stand with them for fear of ill reputation or losing their names or other privileges in the society.  “Fighting for Righteousness” is a gift of the God.

Children don’t need chocolates

  Few years ago one day evening while walking in Chennai streets, we (my wife & myself) came across a children’s home (orphanage). We thought of going inside. How can we meet strange children with empty hand? So we bought half a kilo of éclairs chocolates from a nearby shop and went inside. While walking in, we heard a gentle voice, “where are you going”? Looking around we saw a lady through a window. We went near and told her that we would like to meet those little children inside. What is in your hands? She asked. Chocolates. The lady told us, we have plenty of food here. Every now and then we receive calls from leading bakeries and chocolate companies to supply us. Normally we say no to such call. Pain a Valuable Mechanism

  A girl who acted in the serial, Grey’s Anatomy called herself as a super hero because she never experienced pain in her body.  Though she proclaimed proudly that there was no pain in her body, she was carrying a rare disease called congenital insensitivity to pain.  Those who have that disease will not experience pain.   For a man to live a healthy life he must have the sense of pain.   Otherwise some problem in his body will be unattended for a long time because of lack of pain and which may develop into a serious problem.   In our spiritual life also even if we do a small mistake our heart must be troubled and we must lose the peace of mind.   Then only we will repent and reconcile both with men and God.
