Wake Up Call

 


An American went to Scotland.  He was walking with his Scottish friend through a beautiful mountainous area.  The Scottish friend produced a sound.  The same sound was echoed 4 minutes later.  He asked the American friend if that was possible in American mountains.  He replied this is not a surprise.  Whenever I go to bed I will open my window and shout towards a mountain far away, “It’s time to wake up” then go to sleep.  Exactly eight hours later the same sound will come back to wake me up.

This may be a joke.  But we need a sound, a wakeup call to wake us up in Christian life. It is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.  The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.

Two are better than one

  Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. In 1904 there was an exhibition going on in St. Louis in Mizzouri. It was a summer and it was very hot, that many people went to an ice cream shop to have a cool ice cream.   The shop was owned by Arnold. He never expected such a large crowd and all his paper cups meant for serving ice cream vanished in no time. He was so disappointed because he did not know how to serve customers ice creams without cups. In the next shop a man was selling wafers and his business was so dull. He saw Arnold suffering for lack of paper cups. Immediately a business thought came to him, that he used his wafer flour and made cone shaped cups and gave it to the ice cream shop. They started serving ice cream in cone cups. Both made good money because there was very good sales that day. This is the story of cone ice cream. A Napoleon’s Army General

  A General in Napoleon’s Army loved Napoleon very much and he kept him as his role model.   Once during a war this General got injured badly.   He believed that if Napoleon comes he will save him.   He send messages to Napoleon to meet him.   Napoleon came immediately to meet him.   On seeing his condition Napoleon lost all hopes of saving him.   Amidst cold weather the wounded General kept murmuring Napoleon save me, Napoleon save me till he died.   Only when he was about to die, he understood that even Napoleon could not save him. Nobody can save a man who is moving towards spiritual death also.   There is no one else to save him other than Jesus Christ.   The thief who was crucified on the right hand side of Jesus understood this.   So before he died he had pleaded towards Jesus to save him.   Jesus promised to save him and He did save him.   Only Jesus can save us from spiritual death.
